Converting Throttle Pedals to Operate Extrudabody ITBs |
|
Cars that have rod-operated throttle control will require some adjustment to work with cable-operated systems like Extrudabody uses by default. There is no magic solution to interface our ITBs with rod linkages because each car/engine/throttle combination is unique. But, here are two examples that should help. Example 1: Use Rod Linkages with Extrudabody Throttle Shafts (no cables required)Below is a typical Weber-style throttle linkage using Extrudabody components. If your manifold already has the rods and levers in place, you may be able to connect your existing hardware right up to our Throttle Shafts or Throttle Levers. Feel free to send us pics of your current setup and we'll help determine a good approach. Example 2: Convert Throttle Pedal to Cable OperationBelow is a modified throttle pedal. The custom aluminum piece below is drilled to thread a throttle cable through it and pull it. Then on the firewall, a cable adjuster sits in the stock firewall hole. As you can see, the aluminum piece is very easy to make with a drill press. All the cable adjusters and cable are available from us, so the conversion (our Z car test bed) was pretty easy.
